About This Site and the Experience Behind It

To make my advice useful, the context matters: how I got here.

I have been in IT for over 15 years. I started as an administrator, spent many years as a web freelancer and PHP developer, and one year as a JavaScript developer. For a few years I worked in a foundation where, together with colleagues, we built a supercomputer that helped analyse gravitational waves. I did not think about salary back then — I was happy to create something and make the world a little better.

After a while I decided to find better paid work, so I learned Python. That turned out to be a very good decision: in two projects I was involved in delivering AI to production with market success. Then two years as a DevOps engineer, which was too stressful for me — I started losing motivation, focus and goals.

Today I work as a consultant in three software houses for three large corporations: one project since 2022, a second for two years, a third for a year and a half. I prefer big, stable companies in different time zones.
